CALL PHD SELECTION XXXIX CYCLE_ A.Y. 2023_2024
MODALITIES AND CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION

The Commission for the evaluation of the candidates, as established by the articles 5 and 6 of the CALL PHD SELECTION XXXIX CYCLE_ A.Y. 2023_2024, has a total score of 100, divided as follows:

Up to a maximum of 20 for the evaluation of qualifications;


Up to a maximum of 40 for the evaluation of the research project;


Up to a maximum of 40 for the evaluation of the oral exam.

 

The candidates have to pass an English text read-and-comprehension test if they do not perform the PhD examination in English. Candidates obtaining a score of no less than 27/40 for the project evaluation will be admitted to the oral examination. The oral examination will be considered valid if the candidate reach a score of no less than 27/40.
Academic and scientific titles will be evaluated for a total score of 20. The categories of qualifications will be evaluated in terms of their relevance to the Ph.D. program. The maximum scores are as follows:

Up to 1000 points
101-1044 points
105-1076 points
108-1108 points
110 with honours10 points

 

For candidates who are to obtain their qualifica􀆟on by September 30, 2023, assessment will be calculated based on the weighted average of the results of all exams up to the expiry date of this call (July 20, 2023). Maximum score of 10 determined as follows:

< 27,000 points
28,1 – 27,04 points
29,0 – 28,26 points
29,6 – 29,18 points
30,0 – 29,710 points

 

For candidates who graduated from foreign universities, the following comparison table will be used:

degree grade =100% of total score:10 points
degree grade ≥80% of total score:7 points
degree grade between 70% and 80% of total score:5 points
degree grade < 70% of total score:0 points

 

In case the subdivision is in 1st/2nd/3rd or A-B-C class:

A – 1st class10 points
B – 2nd class5 points
C – 3rd class0 points

 

—Up to a maximum score of 4 may be awarded for scientific qualifications relevant to the subjects covered by the Ph.D. program for which application is made:

  • Scientific publications (monographs, articles in scientific journals)
  • Minor Publications (national and international dissemination conferences, specific volume contributions, etc.)

—Up to a maximum of 4 points may be awarded for academic and study qualifications relevant to the subjects covered by the Ph.D. program for which application is made:

  • 1st or 2nd Level University Master, post-graduate specialization, scientific diploma.
    Qualifications: 1 point for each qualification.

—Up to a maximum of 2 points may be awarded for:

  • Documented research activities at qualified Italian and foreign institutions relevant to the subjects covered by the PhD program for which application is made: 0,2 points for each month of documented activities of minimum 3 months (also for added periods)

—Up to a maximum of 40 points for the evaluation of research project according to the following elements:

  • knowledge of the topics;
  • descriptive completeness;
  • rigor of exposure;
  • clarity of presentation;
  • relevance to the topic of the scholarships;

With regard to the oral exam, the Commission establishes that for each candidate will be asked n. 1 question concerning the research project. The oral exam will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • knowledge of the topics related to the research project;
  • capacity for analysis and synthesis;
  • expository clarity.
